Dan Dare Models

With the exception of photo 3, the Dan Dare Fleet were built for Eagle/Dan Dare enthusuiast Alan Vince. As I am also a huge fan of Frank Hampson's designs these models were a labour of love. Most of them were carved in Jelutong wood and pressed or vac-formed entirely in clear perspex. Since most of the designs have so many windows or clear canopies, the window areas were masked off and the models sprayed in cellulose paint. When the masking tape was removed the clear areas were left. This enabled me to obtain clear and neat window lines. Insetting the window areas any other way would have been very time consuming and not have looked nearly as neat
